Paying tribute to Jobim

Antônio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim, also known as Tom Jobim, was a Brazilian songwriter, composer, arranger, singer, and pianist/guitarist. He was a primary force behind the creation of the bossa nova style.

This medley begins with "The Girl from Ipanema," one of the most recorded songs of all time. Jobim wrote many songs that are now jazz standards.

Flora Purim (vocal), Elaine Elias (vocal & piano), David Sanborn (sax), Oscar Castro Neves (guitar & vocal), Lee Ritenour (guitar), Paulinho Braga (drums), Airto Moreira (percussion), and Nana Vasconcelos (barimbao) play a medley paying tribute to Antonio Carlos Jobim.

Originally broadcast in 1997.
