From Nestor Torres' biography:

"If a flute could talk and sing, it would certainly be in the voice of Nestor Torres, for he speaks through his instrument. Equally fluent in Jazz, Classical and Latin idioms, his fluid versatility sets him apart."

Carlos "Patato" Valdez demonstrated how a musician could combine technical skill with superb showmanship. His conga playing demonstrated the fusing of melody and rhythm, and his keen understanding of rhythm is rooted in dancing. Patato even mastered the art of actually dancing on top of his congas during his performances, to the delight of the audience. He designed and patented the first tunable congas, which revolutionized the instrument.

This piece begins with a dialog between the congas and the flute, demonstrating both the lyrical quality of the congas and the percussive quality of the flute.
